Coffee and Tampons...who could ask for anything more?
I have adopted the habits of a real 9 to 5er… I carry a laptop in the standard black bag to and from work. I have a decorated cubicle of sorts complete with a red stapler and a super cheesy mug of pencils. I stand around the water cooler spreading office gossip (technically I haven’t done this, but we do have a water cooler and I like to talk so it is just a matter of time). I eat lunch at my desk. I also have developed an addiction to the communal coffee. If I am running late (which is like all the time), and I don’t have time to splurge at Caribou, I require at least two mugs of the office java. Two mugs of office java pretty much guarantees an 11:05am trip to the restroom.
Since we have recently moved to a larger office space, we no longer share our restroom with strangers. This is not a good thing for me. I don’t like to know the habits of my fellow officemates and vice versa. ESPECIALLY vice versa. About a week ago, I had a touch of the stomach flu. I spent a bit of time in there and let me tell you it was not pleasant. A couple of days later, there was a can of Oust on the floor in the larger stall…right next to the commode that experienced my unpleasantness. I was certain this can was put there for me. The same day there was also a bottle of lotion next to the sink. I wasn’t sure why the lotion… I could only guess it had something to do with my rough hands.
I mentioned this to a coworker as we were leaving one night. I relayed to her my neurosis about the stomach issues causing someone to give me a hint. Trying to control her laughter (which is hard because she is known for her uncontrollable giggle…which I adore), she clued me in on how it ended up there. It was in fact she who brought in the Oust, but not for me. She was worried about her own issues and did not want to subject the office to them. This was a relief on so many levels. First because I wasn't the one who provoked the need for spray with my unpleasantness. Second because I can use this for any future unpleasantness. I love how I call poop “unpleasantness”… it is poop, just poop.
Yesterday, another addition was added to our selection of helpful restroom products.
I think it is splendid that someone took the time to arrange them in this gift basket, which is how I like my tampons and various sized pads. It gives that extra family touch.
Everyday there is something new about working here that solidifies my decision to leave retail. I doubt they will ever top the feminine hygiene buffet, but I am looking forward to watching them try. I love this place.
